ALM Method
Advantages :

Direct Method
Advantages : a. makes the learning of English interesting and lively by establishing

understand what they learn, think about it and then
express their own
ideas in correct English about what they have read and
learnt.
Disadvantages :

Method
is found suitable.

Community Language Learning
Advantages :
a. learning takes place in a communicative situation where teachers and
learners are involved in an interaction.

and to analyze the foreign language
inductively.

Disadvantages :
a. Inductive learning in the early stage of language learning is not effective
and less successful.

TotaL Physical response Method
Advantages :
a. It is fun and easy. Students will enjoy getting up out of their chairs and
moving around.
b. It is good for learners who need to be active in the class.
c. It is a good tool for building vocabulary.
d. Class size need not be a problem.
Disadvantages :
a. Whilst it can be used at higher levels TPR is most useful for beginners. It
is also at the higher levels where preparation becomes an issue for the
teacher.
b. Students are not generally given the
opportunity to express their own
thoughts in a creative way.
c. teacher may find that it is limited in
terms of language scope. Certain
target languages may not be suited to this
method.

Communicative Language Teaching
Advantages :a.
the increase of fluency in the target language.

when interacting with other
people and they also enjoy talking more.

teaching is
becoming increasingly clear feature is the change in the way as the

Disadvantages :

difficult to participate in oral communicative
activities and, if the exams
used by an institution are grammar based,
communicative fluency may not
be appropriate.

a danger of focusing too much
on oral skills at the expense of reading and
writing skills, and that there
may be too much focus on meaning at the expense
of form. It is felt that
there is not enough emphasis on the correction of
pronunciation and
grammar errors.
